Spread the love

A lovely tradition here in Bermuda is to fly kites and eat fish cakes on Good Friday.  The weather was really good so of course I did both.

Every year residents gather together and fly different coloured and shapes and sizes of kites, it is a great atmosphere and of course kids love it, plus there is always the chance to appear on local TV / or in the local papers and they always turn out to take pics.  I go along to fly my own kite, but more for the social value of being with and part of the community.

We have made traditions here including Gumbi dancing, but more about that in another post.

I used to fly kites when I was a kid back in the UK, never thought I would be doing it every year here, but then my life has changed in Oh so many ways.
