The Reefs Hotel and Club, simply known as the reefs

Reefs Hotel & Club: Paradise In Bermuda

The Reefs Hotel and Club, simply known as the reefs, is a quaint little luxury four-star resort located on a Cliffside in Southampton Parish, Bermuda, overlooking a beautiful private beach. The resort is one of the best in the world, possessing outstanding reviews and accolades from many esteemed travel magazines and sites like Travel & Leisure. Combining world class facilities and impeccable service with a beautiful seaside ambience, this oceanfront wonder is a perfect destination for honeymoons, family vacations, or retirement vacations.

A lovely choice for those who prefer to spend their leisure relaxing and having fun on the beach.

Where Can You Find the Reefs?

The Reefs Hotel is located in the Southampton Parish of Bermuda, not far away from the Sonesta Beach Resort and Gibbs Hill Lighthouse. The resort is the 56th building on South Shore road, which is the main route to most of the island’s best beaches; but is sited far enough away so the noise of traffic does not disturb the peaceful atmosphere. The resort has its own private beach, and all the rooms are facing westward, giving guests a view the pure blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The guests can easily catch a bus to Hamilton, the capital, from the hotel gate. There are also a bunch of pretty beaches one can visit besides the hotel’s own beach, which are within walking distance. The nearest beach to the resort is the popular Horseshoe beach, which is widely known for its pink sand.

What is the Hotel Like?

The resort building itself holds 62 guest rooms, cottages and private suite. It also has about 19 well-furnished, two to three bedroom condos. The various accommodations are classified as follows:

The Club Condos (or residences, as they are commonly referred) are available to rent for hotel guests. They are also available for sale on a partial ownership basis.

The defining factor of the Reefs hotel is the pink and white coloration of their cabana-styled buildings and cottages, which match the pink sand for which Bermuda’s beaches are known for.

The vintage charm that this resort – first established and owned by Marmaduke Dando in the 1940’s – is augmented by a few homey touches. The result of this is that guests feel especially at home when they step into the reception. This feeling is then enhanced by the competent and welcoming staff, who work under routines designed to welcome both new and returning guests altogether. For instance, the new arrivals to the hotel are greeted with a bottle of the best local wine in their rooms. A ‘welcome back’ note on the daily activities brochure greets returning clientele by name, and lists their celebrations (the most common being honeymoons and anniversaries.

The Cliffside suites are all built facing the beach, and so have a direct view of the blue waters of the Atlantic, with a private balcony (or patio, depending on which floor you are on). The Junior Suites are quite similar to the Cliffside suites, the difference being that they are sited along the cliff wall, giving a much more spectacular view of the ocean. The rooms also have step down sitting area, walk-in showers and other amazing facilities.

People looking for complete tranquillity and total peace and quiet should probably avoid the Poolside Rooms.

The Hotel also has 2-bedroom beachfront suites that are just perfect for families and couples. They have two separate bathrooms, a hot tub and a private balcony. There are also several higher class suites that you can check into.

If you’re really looking for peace and tranquillity on your vacation, a great room choice for you will be the Reefs pretty pink cottages.

No matter which room you choose, every room in the Reefs provides the same amenities: comfortable beds, private bathrooms and hot tubs, mini fridges, coffee makers, and a private balcony with a breath taking view of the ocean. And all the rooms are always spotless: you will never enter a room and discover it untidy.

What Facilities Does the Resort Provide?

After you’ve been blow away by the beautiful atmosphere, squeaky clean rooms and welcoming staff; you quickly find that the services provided to all the guests are among the best things about it. The hotel literally provides:

The Aqua Terra is the hotel’s main restaurant, which serves both breakfast and dinner on a daily basis. The restaurant specializes on traditional, exotic Bermuda cuisine, in addition to the more familiar western foods. This allows the restaurant to accommodate to the different tastes of its clientele. The large dining area has large windows, which like the guest rooms, provide sublime views of the ocean.

The Coconuts restaurant, a cosy little eatery set up on the resorts own beach, provides an exotic array of meals for you dining pleasure. The serve lunch and dinner, plus drinks.

The Clubhouse Bar & Lounge offers you a great dining experience sitting under terrace umbrellas on sofas. Ideal for enjoying a drink and a great view of the Atlantic.

And it isn’t just in the big things. The Reefs makes it mark by trying to know each guest personally, then provide little details to make that person’s stay perfect.

My general consensus: The Reef Hotels and Club is truly a paradise in the Bermuda. A cosy, family-friendly, and very welcoming spot that will surely provide you with the best experiences of you life.
